ENCINITAS ROTARY CUP 2010, AUGUST 7-8 GU13 BRONZE
The Temecula United U13 Girls made it to the championship by winning the group, beating Oceanside Breakers 3-0. The next game was very tough, but the girls came through beating Encinitas Express 2-1, scoring all three goals (yes we scored a goal against ourselves). That win put us in contention to win our group going into the next game. On Sunday we only needed to score one goal (win or loose) to make it to the finals. We ended up winning 1-0 going undefeated in our group. The girls gave all they had in that game because they knew by winning the game it would put us in the finals, even though it meant we were going to play back to back games. The girls had only 45 minutes to rest before getting ready for the finals. In the Finals we played Villa FC. It was a tough game from beginning to finish. Villa scored twice in two-counter attacks/break-a-ways. We had great opportunities to score but we did not finish them. In the end the girls were very exhausted, but happy that they made it to the finals. I was so proud of them for their hard work and their overall improvement in a variety of skills in the game.

Temecula United U12 Girls team took the Elite Cup Championship in Temecula the weekend of July 31/August 1! The girls battled all weekend to claim the Championship. After battling back not once but twice on Saturday, the team was able to advance to the semi-finals on Sunday and earned a tough 1-0 victory. The “Cardiac Kids” then went on to score literally in the last-second of regulation on a nearly impossible angle in the Championship game from the wing to win 2-1!! It was a fantastic ending to an awesome weekend! The girls should be very proud of themselves after being crowned champions of the Elite Cup!

Practice Makes Perfect Temecula United Soccer Club/Girls Under 10 Team that just won the prestigious Presidio Cup! The girls were down a goal at the half and came back to win the Presidio Championship game with just minutes to spare. This is on top of their undefeated league season winning the GU10AA-B Presidio League Championship their first year! They are now undefeated in their last 20 games! The team began it’s dedicated practice and hard work last spring, working through the summer and vacations - sometimes 3-4 times a week. Coach Humberto Garcia started with just 3 players with club soccer experience, adding additional recreational players who showed promise and dedication. Through rigorous technical training and patience, Coach Garcia taught the girls the necessary skills needed to work as a cohesive team. Time after time the ambitious, determined girls came back strong in the second half to win the game, usually against teams with years of experience behind them. The skills they have learned and their advanced level of play are now turning heads. Coach Garcia credits the success to their strong work ethic and the girls bonding, plus their parents who are very supportive, but the team credits the Coach as the person responsible for starting the team and putting in countless hours against all odds. Congratulations! | | |
