TU GU12 team
Victorious at Arsenal

The Arsenal Tournament held in Temecula on Father’s Day weekend was a Homecoming for the TU GU12.  The nucleus of the Players moved up as a group from TVSA All-Stars of 07’, after winning the Mesa Tournament (Dec. 07’), President’s Cup (Jan. 08’) and Tournament of Champions (Feb. 08’).  Entering the Arsenal Tournament as Temecula United undefeated in past three Tournaments with 52 GF and 1 GA the team took the field Saturday morning and beat a very good team from Coronado, “Nado Select” 1 to nil.  Then Saturday afternoon however, they suffered their first lost ever in a Tournament Game against FC Murrieta in a howling wind storm.  Two goals were scored against them which were generously help by the wind; the first score floated and dipped into the upper left corner over the Keeper head, India.  The second goal had similar help off a dead ball outside the 18 yd. box and sailed into right corner.  Going into Sunday mornings Games…  The Girls needed the maximum of 10 points (requires 3 goals and a shut out) and for Coronado to tie or beat FC Murrieta in order to make the Championship Game.  Well as fate would have it Coronado Nado Select beat FC Murrieta 2-1 in an earlier game and so it became apparent that destiny was in their control if they were to get into the Championship Game.  They did just that beating PQ Premier Black Team 4 – nil.  The final stage was set Temecula United against FC Murrieta for the Championship in the Bronze Division “Highbury”, but just the day before handed them their first loss ever.  Although just as hot as the day before it was not as windy at game time and by half time it was still a draw 0-0.  Around 10 minutes into the second half, right mid-fielder Chiara intercepted a pass dribbled towards the right side and at the 18 yd. box and swerved a shot into the lower right hand corner.  Finishing out the game with outstanding defense including Lorena in mid-field and diving save by India… The U12 Girls for Temecula United brought Home the Championship beating FC Murrieta 1 – nil.  What a Homecoming for them!  Congratulations’ to Temecula United GU 12!

The Temecula United Girls U14 team coached by Shawn and Sherice Anders win State Cup!

In a hard fought finals against a terrific PQ Premier team played at the John Blanche Fields in Temecula, the Temecula United Girls U14 team scored two late goals, one about 10 minutes from time and the other early in extra time, to seal the first State Cup win in Temecula United History!

The level of play and effort was tremendous all the way from Keeper Paige Miller (Tournament MVP Ball Winner) up to the strikers.  It took all twelve girls maximum effort to pull this out.  They did not give up a goal in the whole tournament, outscoring their opponents 33-0 along the way.  It doesn't get any better than that.

Again, ladies, we are proud of you, way to go!
